Family day

Monday we had an incredibly family day. Lots was going on, but we were together and that was awesome.

Shawn had worked an overnight shift so I was alone with the girls in the morning. I had to get them up early to make it to an 8am PT appointment for Bracha (Hadas, her therapist, said her game play is moving along really nicely, that she's walking well, just that we should try to discourage her from sitting on her knees and get her to sit more on her butt, also that she should do "squats" by reaching down to pick up toys while standing, in order to encourage her to shift her weight more to her heels to keep her off her toes so much (she has always had a tendency to stand on her toes) and that we should encourage both girls to follow verbal instructions (to ask them to give me something without reaching out my hand so they learn how to understand my verbal language and not just follow physical cues) and that they should play games that use imagination.

Anyhow, after PT I took them to get some breakfast then met up with Shawn and together we spent the next few hours running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to get some tax-related paperwork done. But after that we went out for lunch somewhere new and incredibly awesome, where they had child-friendly cups, plates, and utensils, plus a kids menu (and I'll be damned if the girls' macaroni and cheese wasn't better than our own food!) Then we bought a gift for a wedding we went to last night and then, finally, went home (well, not directly. We had a few more errands to run but they were all on the way).

But the very best part was the walk to the bus after buying the wedding gift. Bracha was in the stroller, Eliana was on Shawn's shoulders (eating his face, it was all very cute) and we walked down the street like that, laughing and looking exactly like the kind of small, happy family you only see in the movies; the kind that makes everyone around you smile and secretly jealous. But WE WERE that family. It was nice :)
